Message1. GUI Display Poor Performance
Posted by: 2004-10-19 21:39:10
Wx:  2.4.2
Platform:  AIX 5.1
Compiler:  gcc version 2.9-aix51-020209

Dear wxWidgets Community,
I am experiencing some performance issues to load the sample applications that come with the wxWidgets package, including the minimal app.  This package is installed in a AIX platform which is part of a Local Area Network.  During the attempt to launch these wxWidgets samples from inside the LAN, the applications perform relatively well.  However, in the event of launching this same app by telnetting and using x-Windows from a Windows machine that resides outside the LAN,  the time that it takes to display the GUI ranges from 1-5 minutes, which is not acceptable.  This same machine has other GUI app that was written using  GTK but not wxWidgets and the time that it takes to display this app using the same scenario described above much lower, 1-3 seconds.  This demonstrates that the problem is not coming from the connection.  These test are done using a broadband connection.
Do you know of a third-party library that may be installed to improve the performance of wxWidgets during the display of applications in my situation?

Thank you very much in advance and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
