I'm new to Reginald so there's every chance I'm being stupid. I'm working my way through the VIEW.rex example. A GuiSendMsg("MyView", "SETEXTENDEDLISTVIEWSTYLE", is issued. In the documentation for GuiSendmsg the allowable values for the second parameter (in this case SETEXTENDEDLISTVIEWSTYLE) is dependent on the type of control. When I look in the documentation for control type "VIEW" there is no mention of SETEXTENDEDLISTVIEWSTYLE. Where will I find a list of the allowable values for each control type?
Many thanks
Phil Owen. | 2. View control #13225 | First of all, Phil, next time you append a topic, try addding it to the "normal" forum rather than the FAQ (this is not intended as a wrap over the knuckles, just a simple comment)
As to the VIEW example, I looked for the parm you mentioned and could only find it in the example script as you said.
Unfortunately, if you review the online help for VIEW in Reginald Programming Center (RPC), you'll see that the docs start with VIEW and then suddenly wander off into the TREE documentation. I'm sure Jeff will updat ethe VIEW docs at some time (hint, hint).
As we users append questions on various variations on control options, Jeff generally answers them with a new parm that isn't documented (see my recent topic Limitation on number of characters in multi-row entry control ???). I'm guessing that that's because MS allows so many variations on parameters for different controls that it would be useless/impossible to document them all in RPC - simpler to tell a user how to do something for each esoteric request we append in the forum.
I did a quick Google on "windows SETEXTENDEDLISTVIEWSTYLE" and found examples of its use, but since they're all in C/C++ (which I don't speak), they're of no use to me | 3. #13226 | Michael,
Many thanks for your prompt reply. Big apologies for posting in the wrong place -(told you I was being stupid). I will continue using the View.rex as my example. As for C & C++ I have very little chance of understanding them - I was an IBM mainframe assembler man in a previous life.
Once again thanks for clearing things up for me.
Phil
