Message1. n00b question-using resource files
#4229

Ok, so this may be a dumb question, here goes:

I have made a GUI with Dialog Edit (I am on windows and am using Dev-C++). I save it and it made the header file and the .wsx file. Now, I want to use it in my program. I am building off of the included template (new->project->GUI). I included the header file (under the resources section) that I made with Dialog Editor. I have no idea where to go from here.

I have tried to find tutorials, forum threads, anything. Nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

Hi!
"wsx file", I suppose you mean wxr file. wxr is the "old" wxWidgets resource format (I guess it never really was popular). The new one is XRC, currently not included in the main distribution. Take a look at the /contrib hierarchy of you wxWidgets distribution and you'll find it there as well as an example.
With the upcoming 2.6.0 release XRC will be standard and moved to the regular lib I guess.
I myself don't use resources. Check out wxGlade for a cool tool to generated XRC files as well as C++ and Python source code.
