766 byte icons are of the 32x32, 16-colour type. This is the most common type. If you want to you can download icon editors that allow you to open 256-colour/highcolour icons and save them as 16 colour icons, with often satisfactory results. Many icons also include 16x16 components, these programs let you remove them too, so that the icon size goes down to 766b.
