I have a problem - is there a way to get the starting application name and path into a macro.dll and how, as an example loaded from your old or new editor...

The easiest way to get the name of the application that launched your script is via the Windows' GetModuleFileName() function like so:
FUNCDEF("GetModuleFileName", "32u, 32u, str[260] stor, 32u", "kernel32")

getmodulefilename(0, filename, 260)
SAY filename
