Message1. CGI/1.1 now in GypsyProxy 1.2
#835
Posted by: 2003-04-01 13:53:18
Some time ago some RQ fans like me were looking for a CGI/1.1 compliant server.  The web server in GypsyProxy 1.2 now has it!  It needs to be tested (it passes my tests).
Also, in the download, is my version of how to write a cgi program.  Many RQ folks have worked on this.  My source code cgi.bas is really simple and effective and does not need to create a large number of arrays of values in order to do the job.  cgi.bas shows you how to get everything you need when you need it and it works with GypsyProxy 1.2 and presumably with any CGI/1.1 compliant web server.  You would compile cgi.bas to test it and then put the cgi.exe in the CGI-BIN directory of Gypsy.  You call it like this:
http://127.0.0.1/cgi?[query string]
Notice you don't need the directory or the executable extension with the Gypsy web server.  Have fun.
So, the web server needs CGI testing with any valid v1.1 programs you have.  The cgi.bas template is a good starter for writing cgi programs and seems to be a different approach than some of the (very good) cgi.inc files I have seen (which endeavor to create upteen arrays) which could be confusing (??).
Thanks for any testing you do and your feedback via email to me!
Guidance may want to put the new dowload package here, but watch for updates at

BONUS, I have added honeypots in Gypsy, too. :-)
